The coworking movement in Alicante is taking a major step forward with the expansion of El Teixidor, a pioneering coworking space in the Valencian Community. Originally launched in 2017 as part of the PetrerEmprende initiative, El Teixidor has provided socially committed entrepreneurs with a space to develop their projects and collaborate with local organizations.
Now, in 2025, the municipality has announced a major change: El Teixidor will be open to all entrepreneurs with a business idea, regardless of their participation in the PetrerEmprende program. This initiative aims to expand access to flexible workspaces and further support local talent.
At a press conference held at El Teixidor’s facilities, Esther Navarro and Carlos Verdú from Genion Lab, alongside Economic Development Councillor David Morcillo, shared details about the expansion.
“El Teixidor was created to extend support beyond the PetrerEmprende program, offering entrepreneurs a space to develop their ideas,” explained Navarro. Since its launch, nearly 50 entrepreneurs have benefited from the program, and over 20 local and regional associations have collaborated to create a network of social impact entrepreneurship.
Councillor David Morcillo emphasized the need to adapt the coworking model to meet the growing demand for flexible workspace.
“Until now, access was limited to PetrerEmprende participants, but by opening it up, we’re allowing more entrepreneurs to benefit from this space, completely free of charge,” he stated.
Starting Thursday, February 20, entrepreneurs can apply for a free spot via the PetrerEmprende website (https://petreremprende.es/).
El Teixidor is not just about offering desks; it’s about building a community. Entrepreneurs who join the coworking space will be encouraged to give back to the local ecosystem through small actions that benefit Petrer and its surroundings.
“It’s not just about launching a business, but about adding value to the environment and supporting the local community,” Morcillo emphasized.
With this expansion, Alicante strengthens its position as a hub for entrepreneurship, offering innovators a dynamic and collaborative workspace to bring their ideas to life. 🚀
